The University of Western Sydney says it has banned hooded tops with a student's nickname on it in response to initiation rituals known as hazing. Students defied the ban on hoodies with printed nicknames, telling Guardian Australia the tradition of older students bestowing nicknames on first year entrants to UWS's Richmond campus was not bullying, but one which leads to a sense of community
