Taylor Swift’s feud with Katy Perry started over John Mayer

Taylor Swift’s feud with Katy Perry did start over a guy — and sources tell Page Six it was John Mayer.

After Swift mentioned a “straight-up enemy” about whom she’s written a new song, “Bad Blood,” in an interview with Rolling Stone, Perry tweeted to call out a mystery mean girl, “Watch out for Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”

Swift said in the interview, “Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies. And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me . . . I don’t think there would be any personal problem if she weren’t competitive.”

Taylor and Mayer had a love affair in 2010 before he dumped her.

She released the song “Dear John” with lyrics, “Don’t you think 19’s too young to be played by/Your dark twisted games.”

In 2012, Perry started dating Mayer, who said he was “really humiliated” by Swift’s song. Music sources told Page Six, “Perry started making digs at Taylor from then on.”

While it was reported that several dancers left Swift’s tour for Perry’s last year, Swift appeared to confirm earlier tensions between them, telling Rolling Stone, “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ ”

Reps for the two singers, who were seated in different sections at the recent VMAs, didn’t get back to us.

Is John Mayor worth having a public 'feud' over?

"Perry's indirect admission of guilt,"?????

This isn't a CRIMINAL case. It' s  a feud between two girls. And one, Swift has reignited.

Calm down, you nutter.

Swift made it quite clear that the feud is NOT about a guy. In fact, Swift never gave any indication it was Perry. In fact, prior to Perry's indirect admission of guilt,,comment sections were full of speculation that it was Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Perry... A water cooler poll of over 8,000 people by USmagazine had 70 per cent of the people saying it was Miley Cyrus. But the ONE THING Swift states made her realize this person was an enemy was over Business. Swift had been touring for six months when Perry attempted to hire away people from Swift to use in her own tour which she wass just beginning to form. Catty, unprofessional, there were plenty of other people she could've hired. It was just meant to cause havoc with Swift's ongoing tour. Nasty. And btw--Swift's song Dear John makes clear Swift dumped Mayer. He's never said otherwise. Finally--Perry seems a little disturbed to walk up to Swift at award shows and out of the blue make deeply insulting remarks to the much younger Swift.

@Blaine Stop fangirling. Everybody knows Taylor Swift is a piece of work.

Arena tours aren't sabotaged by a few dancers (who, in fact, originally danced for Perry), going to another tour - that happens all the time.

And as Page Six have now explained, Swift lied.

Her rift with Katy isn't about  business, it was about her jealousy over Mayer.

Swift says she doesn't like confrontation and it's true.

She prefers to make digs at Harry Styles, John Mayer, Justin Bieber, and now Katy through her dreadfully dull music.

She's just a nasty, vicious, piece of work.

Glad it's finally coming to light.

@Blaine Oh don't kid yourself, it is ALWAYS about a guy when it comes to Taylor.  She just doesn't handle rejection well.  The dancers were once Katy's dancers and they told Taylor ahead of time they were with her temporarily.  The dancers gave Taylor 30 days notice but Taylor fired them on the spot in anger.  She really is a mean girl.

Swift is working with a top producer/songwriter and is friends with performers like Ed Sheeran. They know the concert business, and listen to her music and if it was no big deal that Perry tried to hire dancers or crew, the pros she knows would say so and Swift wouldn't consider Perry an enemy and would not have written the song. She trusts their opinions. She also knows ,any smart, savvy women, many who are in showbiz. If she told them the comments Perry made to her, they wouldve told her if they were deeply insulting or not. If the comments were innocent, they would say so, and Swift would not use the song. Swift respects the opinions of people in the music biz, and that of her smart women friends. The fact that she is using the song tells me that the consensus was that Perry was dishonorable and insulting, or else she wouldn't use the song.
