High Plains gardening classes set Sept. 30, Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 in Amarillo

AMARILLO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Potter County will offer the “Introduction to High Plains Gardening” for three consecutive Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 30.

All classes will start at 6 p.m.at the AgriLife Extension offices for Potter County at 3301 E. 10th Ave. in Amarillo.

The dates and topics are:

- Sept. 30 – Soil Preparation and Watering Methods, Xeriscape and Rainwater Collections.

- Oct. 7 – Landscape and Garden Design.

- Oct. 14 – Perennials, Annuals, Vegetables and Shrubs.

The program will be offered at $10 per session or $25 for anyone wanting to sign up for all three, according to Nathan Carr, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Potter County. While the fee is payable at the door, RSVPs are requested by Sept. 26 by calling 806-373-0713.  

“This program is set up and designed to teach expertise in gardening and is tailored to our area and suited for our needs in Amarillo and the High Plains region,” Carr said. “All the courses will be taught by our local Master Gardeners and experts in the field.”
