Facebook Pages Aren’t Posting To Twitter; Is Facebook Forcing Your Hand?
If you use Facebook’s “post page updates to Twitter” feature, you may have noticed it isn’t working. Any you’re not alone.
The bug or whatever it is started slowly and more and more folks are reporting the disconnect since The Next Web reported it on Friday. They’ve even reached out to Facebook. This doesn’t mean anyone is fixing it though.
Cross-posting on multiple platforms is not the best thing to do, for reasons outlined here, but many small businesses and others still do it.
Why do people cross-post anyway? Primarily they do it so they can reach folks on more that one platform, allowing their post to do double (or triple) time.
Regardless of where you fall in the cross-post debate, you should know that forwarding posts from Facebook pages to Twitter is currently disabled for all users employing this Facebook-initiated feature. If you use it, find a new method. If you don’t use it – here’s a golden opportunity to write an “I told you this was a bad idea. Ha ha.” type post.
Tweets are still posting to Facebook, so this seems like an error on the Facebook side . . . or is it? Facebook pages have been noticing decreasing levels of engagement and this is rumored to be due to tweaks by Facebook to its EdgeRank algorithm. Could this be another notch in the belt? Another way to clamp down on businesses seeking fans in any way other than paid promotions? Hmm.
Do you cross-post and are you disappointed by this sudden change?
