KQED Internships

Internship Program Description

KQED offers two types of internship opportunities. The first is an Academic Internship which offers currently enrolled students an opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job exposure to areas of our business that support our mission, goals and objectives in Public Broadcasting. The second internship category is an Advanced Internship. This option is open to individuals who have previous internship or work experience in the field. KQED advanced interns gain critical on-the-job experience to areas of our business that support our mission, goals and objectives in Public Broadcasting.

The purpose of both of these programs is to provide individuals with opportunities to learn and experience elements of the broadcast communications industry. Individuals who participate in our program will have the opportunity to make valuable contributions to our organization.

The Internship program runs year round with new sessions beginning in September, January and June.

Hours
16 hours per week are recommended (2 - 8 hour days)
Most schedules are flexible.
KQED tries to parallel both quarter and semester systems.

Internship Eligibility
All interns participating in the Academic Internship must be enrolled in a college class or program as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student; should have an overall grade point average of 2.5 (C+ or better); and must be able to receive academic credit for the internship.
Once an individual is accepted for the academic internship, the individual must provide "Proof of Credit" or a signed verification form from a counselor, major department head, or professor before beginning the KQED internship program.
For students participating in the Advanced Internship, current student status is not required.
