We haven't yet reached the "mid-2000s" (years 2040-2060); it's only 2014.
Just as the mid-1900s or the mid-1800s refer to the middle of these centuries, the mid-2000s refers to a time we haven't yet arrived at.

Thats because man is so insecure these days that a woman is no longer needed. Both need robots to take care of their daily lives. Humans are no longer able to take care of themselves, hence their insecurities. Soon we will have Robot cops and Terminators. Robot cops to fight crime without loss of police life and Terminators will be sent away to wipe out terrorists. No more soldier lives lost. They can stay home and breed like rabbits.

If man was really intelligent, he would still have lived like all other animals on this planet and the environment would have been absolutely cleaner and diseases or parasites would have of course been with us, just like ticks and fleas are on monkeys but then our immune system would have taken care of the critters. These days our immune system isn't as effective because we are way too clean with ourselves. That's why sometimes its hard to beat the Flu, Cold and other nasties.

One further thought, +Jon Evans. You could extend your experiment by regularly massaging only the right side of your chest and see whether it catches up with the left side.
