TORONTO — The Brooklyn filmmaker David Thorpe has been self-conscious about his voice for years. But a trip to Fire Island surrounded by men sounding much like him led him to make the documentary “Do I Sound Gay?”
The documentary is a personal, comic look at one gay man’s struggle to explore the theory of the so-called “gay voice.” In this video, Mr. Thorpe discusses some of his motivations for making the film.
