A cold front will enter North Texas on Wednesday night, bringing a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Rain chances drop to 30 percent on Thursday and Friday, but high temperatures are expected to be in the mid-80s on Thursday and the mid-70s on Friday, with lows in the low to mid-60s.

A new proposal expanding the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulatory control over surface water has caused more than 12,000 farmers, ranchers and landowners across the country to submit comments demanding abolishment of the proposed rule in the federal register.

A 13-year-old in a stolen vehicle led police on a high-speed chase Thursday afternoon. Northeast Police Chief James Edland said the teenager jumped into a vehicle while he was at a juvenile camp and drove off near New Hope and Arvin Hill roads. The stolen vehicle reached speeds estimated at 100 miles per an hour, Edland said.
