Electronic ordering services for UK and European retail trade customers
Currently there are three methods you can use for placing your orders electronically with OUP.
The method chosen will largely depend on the size of your business and your annual order value.
For smaller accounts we would recommend using the Nielsen BookNet Teleordering service provided by
Nielsen BookNet Web Services (www.nielsenbooknet.co.uk)
e-mail: customerservices@nielsenbookdata.co.uk
Tel: +44 (0) 870 777 8710
Fax: +44 (0) 870 777 8711
Nielsen BookNet offers the combined services of First Edition, Teleordering, and Whitaker Information
Services.
If you are using TeleOrdering, you will receive an order confirmation from TeleOrdering which is sent after your
order has been transmitted to us. However, this is not a confirmation that your order has been processed by us. If
you require, we can
provide an electronic acknowledgement that your order has been processed by us, with a confirmation of the expected
delivery date(s).
The transfer of your order to OUP is done by batch continuously throughout the day and overnight. We
process your order when we receive the file from TeleOrdering.
Teleordering will allow you to place orders for titles yet to be published.
For all customers with an existing OUP credit account, we recommend using the 24/7 price,
availability, and online ordering
service provided by PubEasy (www.pubeasy.com).
Email: help@pubeasy.com
Telephone: +44 (0) 1342310481

Which credit cards are accepted? Back to top
Currently we accept VISA and Mastercard, as well as Maestro debit cards.
Why am I asked for an extra password or PIN when paying? Back to
top
Many banks are now introducing an extra level of security for online purchases called 3D-
Secure. This aims to reduce the opportunity for fraud in online transactions. During the check-out process, you
may be asked by your bank either to register or, if you already have registered, to provide a password or a second
PIN. You will find this happening as you use other online stores. Mastercard call this 'Mastercard
SecureCode' and VISA call it 'Verified by Visa'.
Will I get a receipt? Back to top
After you have completed your online purchase, you can print out your order summary or email
confirmation if you wish to keep a paper receipt. You will also receive a VAT receipt with your order.
How much tax will I pay? Back to top
Throughout Europe different rates of local taxes are applied to purchases.
If you are purchasing online from one of the following territories, VAT (value added tax) at the relevant local
rate will be applied where applicable. For delivery in the UK, books and printed music are subject to VAT at 0%;
CDs, cassettes, and CD-ROMs attract VAT at the standard rate, currently 20%.
VAT numbers for each territory are shown below.
- UK (VAT number: GB125506730)
- Belgium (VAT number: BE453521619)
- Denmark (VAT number: DK21832073)
- Finland (VAT number: FI1540859-4)
- France (VAT number: FR8435093467500017)
- Germany (VAT number: DE112144487)
- Greece (VAT number: EL998160526)

- Italy (VAT number: IT11492960155)
- Netherlands (VAT number: NL817695783B01
- Spain* (VAT number: ESN0065351I)

* The Balearic Islands and the Isle of Man are classified as part of the European Community for VAT purposes.
* The Canary Islands and the Channel Islands are classified as outside the European Community for VAT purposes.
For all other territories in the European Union, VAT will be added at the current UK rate.
For territories outside the European Union, no VAT will be added.
If you are registered for VAT or other local sales tax, and do not wish to pay the tax on eligible products, you
will not be able to use our online ordering system. We will be happy to take your order by any other means, and you
should refer to How To Order for other methods of ordering, and ensure you supply us with your
VAT or local sales tax number.

How much will I pay for delivery? Back to top
We will charge you for postage and packing depending on your location and type of order. Postage and packing rates.
How will you acknowledge my order? Back to top
After you have completed your online purchase, we will send you an email confirming your order.
When will my credit card be charged? Back to top
You card will be charged as we send your order out of our warehouse. This means that if you place an
order for a product that is not currently in stock, we will wait until we have stock that we can send you before
charging your card.
Can I cancel or change an order? Back to top
If the order has not been despatched you may cancel it by contacting our Customer Service department,
and quoting your Order Number:

After the order has been despatched, you may return it if you wish, by following these instructions.
What are your Terms and Conditions of Sale? Back to
top
For some books different publishers control the rights to publish
in different geographical territories. Occasionally, due to the nature
of some contractual restrictions, we are unable to ship a specific product
to a particular territory. If this is the case for your order we will inform
you as soon as we receive your order. Your local bookshop will be able to advise you of the publisher from whom you
can order your book.
For certain European countries your online order will be taken by our online ordering system in Sterling. Because
of technical restrictions in current online ordering systems only one currency can be handled within a system. When
your order is processed by our distribution centre we are able to invoice in multiple currencies, so your order
will appear on your credit card in your local currency. The Sterling price will have been converted to your
currency at the exchange rate in force at the time your order was processed.

The catalogue on this website covers all of OUP's range of titles, including books, electronic products, and printed music, except for English Language Teaching and Oxford Education books and products, journals, and selected items which are supplied free of charge.
As well as books, you can also buy personal subscriptions to many of our online products on this site, although please note that at the moment, these orders use a different shopping basket. Unfortunately this means that you will not be able to take advantage of any address information you may have stored in My Account, or view orders for online products in your account area. We hope to improve this process soon, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Institutional subscriptions to online products are not available for purchase through this website - please see the individual product pages for details of how to order, or visit www.oup.com/online.
Ebooks are available from many ebook retailers and institutional ebook suppliers, and are not directly sold by OUP. For an up-to-date list of ebook suppliers, visit www.oup.com/uk/academic/ebooks.

How can I tell whether a product is in stock? Back to top
If the title you wish to order is not currently in stock at our warehouse, you will see a message
above the Add to Basket button on the catalogue page for that title.
Can I order products that are not currently available? Back
to top
Yes, you can.
In some cases, we may need to order the title for you from another OUP branch, or the title may be one which we
manufacture to order. In these cases, you will see a message on the catalogue page for that title informing you of
the likely delivery time, and you should order in the normal way.
In other cases, we may be waiting for more stock to arrive, or a title may not yet be published. In these cases,
you can still place an order for delivery when the title is available. We will process your order and charge you
for the item(s) when we despatch your order. Alternatively, you can choose to be informed by email when the title
is available, using the link on the catalogue page.
What does Printed to Order mean? Back to top
Due to advances in printing technology, we are now able to keep many books in print which, in the
past, would have had to go out of print due to the limitations and costs of traditional printing methods. These
titles are described as "Printed to Order" (they may also be described as "Manufactured on Demand" or "Print on
Demand"). They can be identified on this website by a message displayed above the Add to Basket button on the
catalogue page for each title.
Oxford University Press was one of the first publishers to explore printing on demand, and now has an active
programme of several thousand titles. This allows us to guarantee the availability of a wide range of scholarly
titles for the foreseeable future.
The process relies on the use of digital technology to hold and reproduce files and enhanced order-processing
techniques to manage customer orders. Digital files are held for every title in the programme and physical books
are only printed and shipped when we receive the order. As a result, orders for printed-to-order titles may take a
few days longer to arrive.
How do I use a promotion code? Back to top
Many promotion codes will be applied to your order automatically when you follow a link from outside our
website, for instance in an email marketing message, or when you click on an offer on our site.
However, if you have been given a promotion code, you will also have a chance to enter the code during the checkout
process, when we ask you for your payment information.
