The Replacements were welcomed back to NBC after a 30-year ban.

The Replacements visited the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon set and performed 1987's "Alex Chilton"—Fallon introduced them as a "massively beloved and influential rock band." Aw.

And, actually, it was the first time the Replacements performed on NBC in 30 years. In 1986, the Replacements were banned from the network after appearing as the musical guest for an episode of Saturday Night Live. The Minnesota four-piece showed up drunk and cursing (off-mic, if that makes a difference?), and performed a few bars of "Bastards of Young," forgetting a few lyrics along the way. It was awesome and it quickly had them ushered onto the list of other awesome bands that managed to get banned from the long-running sketch comedy show.

Meanwhile, Interpol appeared on last night's Late Night With David Letterman, performing "All the Rage Back Home," off their freshly released full-length, El Pintor. They looked bored but they also looked and sounded great in all-black as they brooded their way through the single. In other words, things haven't changed a bit.
