Because ‘El Pintor’ isn't just Spanish for “the painter.”
We're going to go ahead and admit it: We had no idea how to celebrate the much-anticipated release of Interpol's first full-length release in four years, El Pintor.
We didn't want to go the traditional (snoozy) review route—it's good. We've all heard it. We didn't want to rank your nostalgia by arbitrarily rating Interpol's entire discography. And we definitely didn't want to quiz you on which incarnation of Carlos D you are (pre-/post-holster? Mustachioed or no?).
And that's when discussion got to what the significance of the phrase "el pintor" was anyway—it translates to "the painter" en español, but it's also an anagram of Interpol. Which, of course, had us figuring out some other anagrams.
Enjoy. Or something.
