"...Rice researchers identified 25 inorganic chemicals in the waste. Of those, at least six were found at levels that would make the water unsafe to drink—barium, chromium, cop...per, mercury, arsenic and antimony. Depending on the chemical, consuming it at high levels can cause high blood pressure, skin damage, liver or kidney damage, stomach issues, or cancer. But the study's innovation involved examining and identifying over 50 organic chemicals in the waste—an area that's been little studied previously. Some of these are potentially dangerous, depending on their concentrations, such as the cancer-causing toluene and ethylbenzene; however, such levels were not provided."

a new study on the contents of the fluids involved in the process raises concerns about several ingredients. The scientists presenting the work 8/13/14 at the 248th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS) say th...at out of nearly 200 commonly used compounds, there's very little known about the potential health risks of about one-third, and eight are toxic to mammals. The Denton Chamber of Commerce does lots of good for our city, but they made a mistake here. Please urge them to reconsider their position in light of a full analysis of the issue.
