A real interdisciplinarian

Reading an article on Japan in the NYTs, about how the part of Japan hit by the earthquake and the tsunami was already suffering with an aging population and in economic decline. The article quotes Daniel P. Aldrich, who is an expert in both the decaying economies of northern Japan, and has written on how areas respond to disasters (eg, he has a book on Katrina). Too bad he wasn’t at our Katrina workshop.
