The LEBS analyses the molecular interactions that govern major cellular functions: motility, morphology, cell trafficking and signaling as well as protein translation and folding. Research at the Institute uses the realm of experimental approaches in cell structural biochemistry: from biophysics, protein biochemistry, to structural and cell biology. At the moment, two federative research themes are developed: "Function, mechanisms and structure of complex assemblies of proteins" and "Molecular bases for pathologies and their application for the discovery of inhibitors of therapeutic interest". > Further reading Website : http://www.lebs.cnrs-gif.fr/home.html Contact : |
Research at the ISV aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms at work during plant development and growth and the regulation of such processes through endogenous (hormones) or exogenous signals of both biotic (bacteria, viruses) and abiotic (osmotic and hydric stress) origin. Molecular, biochemical, biophysical, cellular and genetic approaches are developed to study the above-mentioned phenomena, mainly through the model-systems Arabidopsis thaliana and Medicago truncatula. > Further reading Website : http://www.isv.cnrs-gif.fr/ Contact : |
Research at the CGM focuses on the characterization of the mechanisms involved in the preservation, dynamics, expression and implementation of genetic information through genetic, genomic, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and informatics approaches. These studies use various living model systems such as prokaryotes, eukaryotic unicells, invertebrate metazoans and eukaryotic cells ex vivo. > Further reading Website : http://www.cgm.cnrs-gif.fr/version_gb/index_gb.html Contact : |
The ICSN laboratory centers on research related to the development of the chemistry of natural substances and its applications. The purpose is to discover new efficient and ecologically clean methods for organic synthesis and perfect them in the context of total synthesis of complex natural substances; to study the interaction of such molecules with their biological targets with the help of physics and biochemistry and, lastly, to apply these to the development of new drugs for treating illnesses in modern society. > Further reading Website : http://www.icsn.cnrs-gif.fr/article.php3?id_article=15 Contact : |
The LEGS laboratory centers on evolution. Its research is pluridisciplinary with genomic, genetic, systematic and ecology approaches. Various integration levels are studied, from genomes to species and communities. The LEGS focuses on understanding the mechanisms that lead to population differentiation as well as the history of speciations... > Further reading Website : http://www.legs.cnrs-gif.fr/index.php?lang=uk Contact : |
The VMS laboratory studies the mechanisms originating responsible for the various sequences in viral cycles. Researching this phenomenom by essence requires a pluridisciplinary approach, involving histology, cell and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, biophysics and radiocrystallography, in order to obtain the finest description possible of the interactions between a virus and its host cell, an essential step to developing new antiviral drugs... > Further reading Website : http://www.vms.cnrs-gif.fr/indexEn.htm Contact : |
The N&D laboratory studies the fundamental aspects of brain development, physiology and related behaviors. N&D research focuses on multiscale, genetic, embryological, morphological, neurophysiological, evolutionist and behavioral approaches, on various types of model animals. It aims at a better comprehension of the nervous system in terms of construction and organization that maintain its main functions. > Further reading Website : http://www.inaf.cnrs-gif.fr/ned/home-page.html Contact : |
UNIC studies the central cortical and subcortical processes responsible for perception and the treatment of sensory information. It aims at understanding the emergence of collective properties of sensory networks through the study of the biophysical properties and connectivity of neurons. Research carried out at UNIC is based on interdisciplinary approaches, interfacing with sensory electrophysics, psychophysics, cognitive sciences and brain imagery as regards experiments and, neurogeometry, computational neurosciences and physics of the dynamics of complex systems for theory. > Further reading Website : http://www.unic.cnrs-gif.fr/ Contact : |
INAF is a CNRS research federation grouping the neurobiology laboratories at the Gif research center (N&D and UNIC) and the local branch of the national network for Complex Systems. The federation hosts common resources such as a library, IT facilities, etc. It also manages the Center's central animal house in terms of logistics and strategy. Lastly, every year, INAF is responsible for organizing the Ladislav Tauc international conferences at Gif. Website : http://www.inaf.cnrs-gif.fr/ Contact : |
