OMM Takes Down “Green Lantern Is Gay” Post After Too Many Positive Comments
Our good friends at One Million Moms are none-too-thrilled that DC Comics is making Green Lantern gay (well, one of them, anyway).
So they posted a “warning” on their Facebook page that linked to a news story about the homo superhero.
But when almost all of the comments were in support of DC’s move, OMM deleted the post.
David Badash of The New Civil Rights Movement writes:
When I happened upon the posting, it seemed that there were more than 100 comments, but when I tried to access the post on its individual page, it came up with an error message: “The page you requested was not found.” (Original link here.)
I went back to the main One Million Moms Facebook page, noticed there were now only 83 comments, clicked to access the post’s individual page again, took a screen shot, but noticed there were only a few dozen comments.
I went back to the main One Million Moms Facebook page again, and noticed the post was gone.
Badash surmises the page administrator first tried to delete positive comments about the story, and then just axed the whole post.
In addition to being decades behind on cultural values, OMM is showing they’re woefully dated when it comes to the ins and outs of social media.

@Rory: Perhaps the other 950,000 moms are there, but don’t like it.

@Rory: and I think I just recently read actually fewer real members. Talk about hyperbole. But our enemies on the Right need to convince the general public that their organizations are filled to over-flowing with like minded people. Sadly, some people vote out of a desire to be on the winning side of an issue rather than on honest reflection. So there is actually some method to their madness.

I belong to OMD [One Million Dads] and our response is…”let’em eat cake”. (Refering to OMM.) They need to go away, care for their gay kids, (yes, some of them will turn out to be gay) and be the women they are supposed to be. Maybe not subservient but, follow, educate themselves and stay up on things PROGRESSING into the 21st century. NOT backpaddling towards the past. Can you say “humanity”? Go screw yourselves if you are not getting what you want at home. Just because others are living THEIR lives the way they deem fit, don’t make us live YOURS! SB

Saw on Reddit that OMM was being reported as a hate group to FB with a request to terminate their page. It was from a post about JC Penny running a fathers day ad with 2 dads. Like here, all the comments were positive a d people proclaiming they would shop at JC Penny more now… Gotta love those Reddittors…

I like the way that crazy right organizations take on names that imply they are bigger than they are–
‘The Moral Majority” “one million moms” “the catholic league” (which is basically one guy a few staffers rather than the average church going catholic) etc
Its like they know they are full of shit as far as their numbers so they name themselves these absurd names for puffing up their status.

I love it when people fight negativity with positivity. It completely disarms the negative side because it can never be considered an attack.

they only have 40,000 likes, because, in order to post anything on their FB page is to “like them”.

Loool is it just me who finds it kind of ironic that “One Million Moms” only has just under 50,000 likes on Facebook
