• “Deemed exports” can occur in your lab by sharing controlled technologywith foreign national graduate students or visiting scientists

• International travel—everything you take with you is an export, so you need to learn what items are restricted based on your destination  

• Foreign entities or persons involved in all proposed contracts must be screened against “denied party” lists maintained by the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce and Treasury  

• Export control violations may result in significant civil and criminal penalties for both the researcher and UNT
