Richard Dixon

UNT Distinguished Research Professor Richard Dixon will serve on a committee examining the history, safety, benefits and drawbacks of genetically modified crops around the world.

Angela Wilson

UNT Regents Professor of Chemistry Angela Wilson has been named the 2015 Francis P. Garvan-John M. Olin Medal recipient. The honor recognizes top women chemists for distinguished service and contributions to the field of chemistry.

Two UNT doctoral students in the Department of English, Jenny Molberg and Chelsea Wagenaar, won awards for their poetry.

The season includes six mainstage productions and one First Stage Series performance, which is produced and directed by students. Susan Sargeant, an award winning director and artistic director of Wingspan Theatre, will direct Once in a Lifetime, while professional director George Boyd will helm The Diver's Wife. Award-winning guest designers this year are Rodney Dobbs and Randall Wright.

David Itkin

The UNT Symphony Orchestra's first concert of the fall season on Sept. 26 (Friday) includes one of the most famous works of Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and a concerto featured in College of Music conducting professor and Symphony Orchestra Director David Itkin's new book.

The Jo Ann (Jody) and Dr. Charles O. Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts and Design, made possible through a $2.5 million gift from the Onstead estate, will foster research, support talented arts and design educators, and collaborate with local, state, national and international arts and cultural agencies in unique ways to advance arts awareness for future generations.

Texas gubernatorial race, which will include debates between Wendy Davis and Greg Abbott Sept. 19 and 30; the lieutenant governor race, which will include a debate between Dan Patrick and Leticia Van de Putte on Sept. 27; and other state and Congressional races. UNT faculty members are available to  provide analysis and discuss a variety of topics.

James Meernik and Kimi King

UNT political scientists Kimi King and James Meernik are leading a first-of-its-kind survey to assesses how individuals are coping, if not healing, physically, mentally and socially as employers, employees, neighbors and family members in the nearly two decades since the signing of the peace accords.

Untangled II: Unbound

The public can compete for prizes in the latest version of an online gaming competition that's helping University of North Texas researchers improve the efficiency of the next generation of electronic gadgets, such as smartphones and medical devices. The competition for UNTANGLED II: Unbound runs Aug. 21 (Thursday) to Sept. 10 (Wednesday), and 20 gift cards will be awarded to the overall best players.
