This month marks the mid-way point of COSEE NOW’s 5-year NSF project, and while it hasn’t been easy to bring together scientists and educators in the virtual realm, we’ve built up a number of great collaborations along the way. In 2009 we hosted a Storytelling Workshop for ocean scientists and educators and since they we’ve been collecting their stories. Earlier this year, we hosted a professional development series for IOOS Educators on Exhibit Design which has lead directly to the community submitting a joint proposal. And we have a lot more planned for the future.
That’s why we’re happy to announce that this month we’ve relaunched our web site, nay, social collaboration portal at coseenow.net. The new site has been throughly redesigned to support interactions among and ocean between scientists and educators.
- You can now build new partnerships by searching and befriending users with common interests.
- You can join a number of topical workgroups to interact and share resources with other members.
- You can checkout and subscribe to a number of blogs that feature discussions and news on Broader Impacts and Ocean Observatory Education related efforts.
- And of course, you’ll also find a growing list of great resources from our NOW team, including educational activities, multimedia resources, surveys and effective practice guides.
If it’s been a while since you’ve been on our site, we invite you to log in and check out all the cool new features. Many of you have already created your own network of friends on the site, which is depicted in the above image, and we encourage everyone to join in on the fun.
Finally, we encourage you to join the NOW team for an informal tour of the new site and discussion of COSEE NOW programs. You can join on May 10th at 1pm or May 18th at 4pm Eastern.
