Visceral Leishmaniasis and HIV Coinfection: Time for Concerted Action

HIV co-infection of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) has been identified as one of the emerging challenges for control of VL. In this editorial, the authors discuss the concerted efforts needed from all stakeholders to progress towards elimination and control of VL and VL-HIV co-infection.

Ring-Screening to Control Endemic Transmission of Taenia solium

O'Neal et al. found that screening for intestinal tapeworms among people who live nearby a heavily-infected pig reduced transmission of Taenia solium in the overall community by 40% over one year.
