John McCracken, creator of mysteriously commonplace polished resin blocks and boards has died at age 76. Eulogies n the NY Times and Art Daily reveal that McCracken’s works epitomized West Coast pop spirituality, that McCracken believed in UFO phenomena, and that he looked like a cross between Clint Eastwood and Jack Palance. You may recall his delicious robin’s-egg blue plank in the Menil’s recent “Kissed By Angels” show.
