Print Friendly

Laura Lark launches her new advice column: Laura Lark Loves You…

“Good, good for you and a terrific distraction from that suck-ass job.” “Words so wise you’ll think we dug up Susan Sontag and propped her in front of a computer.”

Dear Glasstire Reader,

Are you tired of my same old blogs and reviews and wish I’d do something a little more fresh? A little more about…you? Well… At long last! My new feature that savvy folks everywhere have waited for: LAURA LARK LOVES YOU.

Be the first to email me your questions, comments, and ideas concerning art–or anything else–to: lauralark@glasstire.com
If I don’t have the answer I’ll persistently annoy someone who will–and that’s a promise!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Laura Lark

  1. Dear Laura,
Emily Sloan is my artist in residence this August. (I don’t want to be stuck in the gallery when it is beach time and I don’t really want anyone else sitting in my Design Within Reach chair.) Emily gets to use the gallery as a studio to create her September show and will have Emily events Saturdays in August.
Emily has asked if she can spank people, she says they know what they’ve done.

Should I be concerned? Linda Darke

  2. I love you Laura Lark!

  3. If you could describe and suggest a daily routine (things to read, do, act, etc) what would you suggest?

Also, what type of resources (advice) would you suggest in trying to figure out how to market your art (to galleries, buyers etc)? I’ve been away from any art world for about 5 years and honestly just feel lost. Thanks!!

Good luck on the new column!

  4. I can’t think of anyone more qualified to tell you what she thinks than Laura Lark.

  5. Dear Laura,

Everyone in the art world says they hate the art world. Why do we all stay in it?

Are the other worlds the same way?

    Signed,
    Greener Grass

  6. I love you, too Laura.

  7. At last an advice gig with calculated sass. Hair really looks great. Nice intellectual set.

  8. your looking great, really marvelous, such a nice girl……from sharpstown, between the rival cartel safe houses and keyotte rentals, got a question…….woth this internet hoopla, instant atistima, live action painting, posting postings on other art postings, and 24/7 uunending exposure (with or without the proper attire, and the artfaire conscription of local work………what happened to the Zietgeist? are they shut out of the bandwidth, is there no spontanious combustion of ideas….(like the nineties) or is this just a bunch of hooey and we should all be going bact to the forty acres and a mule we’ve been dreamin about…….ya know what I mean?

  9. WOW! A revelation. As a northern liberal progressive person I was amazed to learn that Texas apparently has art and actually has a person (people?) who comment about it. So not everyone there has swallowed the Perry kool aid or whatever it is he’s on. Keep up the good, arty work there. So aside from Elvis on velvet and bronze cow pies, what’s up with Texas art?

    1. Dr. Russen, Get a copy of Texas Artists Today – to see a portion of what is going on here in Texas.

    2. You suck dude.

  10. What fashion trend is overrepresented in figurative art?

  11. What caliber bullet did you use to fell Pepe the pig on your desk there, a russian 7.62 x39 or a good ole american 308 round? by the way, hope you’re feeling better after that brawl with the ceiling fan.

  12. Hi Laura, in a bit of a bind here. You see, my family and I have been imprisoned in a Syrian cell while on a humanitarian missions. My son tried to escape and now they want me to pull the chair from underneath him. He says that if I don’t he will not only kill my son but some other innocent inmate as well. I have zero doubt that he means what he says. What should I do?
