A little bit about ArtCrawl:

Twenty years ago, Houston’s downtown was in a sorry state: blighted, gloomy and abandoned. Determined to change things, several warehouse district artists opened their studio doors and invited the public to see their work. The Houston ArtCrawl was born. Today, the downtown area is hot, and the ArtCrawl is stronger than ever. Each year ArtCrawl is now atracting more than 4000 art lovers that come to see the art directly from the artists.

A yearly event focusing the city’s attention on the continued revitalization of its warehouse district. This event provides a one of a kind opportunity for the public to interact with Houston artists in their personal space and witness the artistic process. The event also highlights several renovated historic buildings and neighborhoods. Featuring over 200 artists in 25 warehouses, the ARTCRAWL is the only event of its kind in Houston. Organized by volunteers from its very beginning, the ARTCRAWL has grown from a small event highlighting a few artists’ studios north and east of Downtown, into the event it is today, highlighting not just the artists but the neighborhoods, the buildings and the restaurants and businesses in them. It is a true grassroots success story. The Annual Houston Warehouse ARTCRAWL is always held the weekend before Thanksgiving.
