In The Gallery at HCC Central Art
phasing:
a summer installation by Hana Bibliowicz and Joanne Brigham
July 11 through August 10, 2012
Reception, August 1, noon - 2:00pm

HCC Central Fine Arts is proud to present an exhibit showcasing two of their own with phasing: a summer installation by Hana Bibliowicz and Joanne Brigham. The show will run in Central's Art Gallery, July 11 through August 10 with a reception (and perhaps performance) on Wednesday, August 1, noon to 2:00pm

The title, phasing, describes the state of implied motion found in the works of both artists. Hana Bibliowicz is best known for large scale ceramic installations and sculpture, Joanne Brigham for installations incorporating performance and pieces that change and evolve over the span of the show. For this exhibit, the artists have combined their works into a single installation. As Brigham explains, “The difference in our work is clear and blending. It’s intended to expand the content of both.”

Bibliowicz’s three works are grounded, mud dripped, rising from the floor and somewhat figurative. Brigham’s work uses ears of corn and plastic tubing suspended from the ceiling and explores fluid processes that become static, and permanent or static processes as they become fluid. Brigham’s part of the installation will be altered throughout the run of the show and the reception may include a performance by the artist.
