"Colonies" Visual Art Exhibition

Clamp Light Artist Studios and Gallery presents "COLONIES" by artist DYAN GREEN

The opening reception for Colonies will take place on Friday, January 11th from 6-9 pm at Clamp Light Gallery located on 706 Fredericksburg Rd.

Please join us this month and help us bring in the new year as we feature the exceptional work of artist Dyan Green. Green holds an MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University and a BFA in Ceramics from Kansas State University. She is an artist who primarily uses found objects and everyday materials to create her sculptures, installations and two-dimensional works.

"My current body of work, Colonies, is a series that begins with the collection of disparate found objects from the early twentieth century. This collection is made up of items that straddle the boundaries between rusted antique and disused junk. When finding these objects, I was reminded of insects, particularly bees, as I dusted out the spider eggs and removed the defunct clods left by wasps. The bees, in their act of honey-making, leave behind a hive. The hive was once the innate center of production. Comb by comb, the hive itself grows organically glistening with perfect geometry. But without the colony, the hive disintegrates and its purpose is emphatically obsolete." -Dyan Green

Please join us for good conversation, thoughtful dialogue, refreshments and of course great art! Hope to see you there!
Cheers!
