In SoHo, New York there is a second-floor loft full of dirt. It's called the New York Earth Room, and is a Dia Foundation Project. The artist is Walter De Maria, and he installed it here in 1977. Bill Dilworth has cared for the Earth Room for 19 years.

    I saw this exhibit recently with my class, and was more blown away by this guy than the actual exhibit. Glad to see this here.

    For those of us who have seen him come and go for 19 years, what we all want to know is what does Bill do after he closes up the gallery. Sitting there with his Buddha smile, one might assume more of the same.... or perhaps?
