Ted Gahl, Lane Hagood and Nathan Hayden

Description

Common Objects features the work of Ted Gahl, Lane Hagood and Nathan Hayden. By mining everyday subject matter, all three artists address the idiosyncrasies of daily experience. Ted Gahl’s small scale dynamic paintings blur the notion of subject matter as priority to create space for earnest gesture and physicality to come into focus. Playing with Western perceptions of perfection and symmetry, Lane Hagood celebrates beauty found in the crude, the odd, and the obscure. Nathan Hayden is an historian of everyday experiences whose work is derived from his obsessive visual and written documentation of illogical expressions and daily visions. Gahl lives and works in Connecticut, Hagood in Houston and Hayden in Southern California. Common Objects is organized by Shane Tolbert.
