Tossin’ the Rag is a performance that addresses the social schisms set in place through gender representation in mass media and the need to readdress these, especially in the redefinition of a realistic Black male. The piece is based on the Goya painting Straw Mannequin. The work was performed along 14th Street in New York City as part of Art in Odd Places curated by Edwin Ramoran and in collaboration with Bradly Dever Treadaway, Jason Thompson and Stefanie Nelson.
