This selection of nine experimental shorts from the 11th annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas is an eclectic group of new Asian and Asian-American works that unapologetically pushes past the limits of the usual film genres. Open Screen Night
Call for Submissions from Artists and Curators

Aurora is now accepting proposals from the community for our quarterly Open Screen Night, including works-in-progress screenings, media art workshops, media performance art, curated short film series or other unique media art happenings that are in line with the mission of Aurora Picture Show.  Each quarter, we will reserve a community night for these submissions and select one program or a group of programs that showcase new works that expand the cinematic experience.  With our new facility located in the Rice/Kirby area, Aurora strives to be a welcome home for local filmmakers, film professionals, artists and fans of film.  READ MORE

Idea Fund Announcement
Congratulations 2013 Recipients

The Idea Fund, a re-granting program funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and administered through DiverseWorks, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses announces the 2013 grantees.  The following ten Texas-based artists and artist collectives will each receive $4,000 ($3,500 for the awarded project, plus $500 seed money for future work) to create and showcase innovative artistic projects in the coming year:  The Bridge Club - Art and Performance Collaborative (Huntsville); Erin Curtis (Austin); Bill Davenport (Houston); Esteban Delgado (San Antonio); Everything Records / Robert Hodge and Philip Pyle (Houston), Madsen Minax (Houston); Ryan O’Malley, Joe Pena, Dr. Amber Scoon, and Jack Gron (Corpus Christi); Stephanie Saint Sanchez (Houston); Ethel Shipton and Nate Cassie (San Antonio); and Walley Films – Mark Walley and Angela Walley (San Antonio).  READ MORE

Featured in the Curator's Corner this Summer
Each quarter, Aurora Curator Mary Magsamen will highlight an artist from Aurora's diverse membership to showcase their work and introduce you to the Aurora congregation. This season, our featured member is James Johnston. James is a producer and filmmaker from Fort Worth, TX.  View "Knife",which was  an Official Selection at SXSW, LA Shorts Fest, Sarasota Film Fest, Hamptons International, Sidewalk Film Fest, and more.
