EL PASO, TX/ CIUDAD JUAREZ,MX.- The III Bienal Ciudad Juárez-El Paso Biennial 2013, based in El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juárez, MX and dedicated to contemporary visual art, is open to Mexican and American artists with no limits of age and offering a collective exhibition at the El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Juarez, artist-in-residence programs, personal exhibitions at the El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Juarez and publication in the official catalogue.

Exhibition Prize:

One artist will be selected for a solo exhibition traveling to both museums.



Two Acquisition Prizes:

The El Paso Museum of Art will purchase one work each by an American and Mexican artist.



Two SOMA Residencies:

One for a Mexican artist and one for an American artist, selected and awarded by SOMA in Mexico City (transportation to Mexico City will be the responsibility of the artist)

Sections: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture & installation, photography, video art & virtual art.

Participation: the contest is open to all artists living within 200 miles of the US/Mexico border, without any limit of age.


Exhibition of a selection of Under 50 Artists: May 26th August 18th, 2013 – El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Juárez.

The El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Juárez, organizes the third edition of the Bienal Ciudad Juárez-El Paso Biennial, aimed at promoting and enhancing contemporary art from the US-Mexico border region.



The exhibition features the awarding of two purchase prizes, the organization of an important solo exhibition at the El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Ciudad Juárez, two Art Residencies and the publication of an official Catalogue. Participants can freely choose the subject of their artworks, but each work submitted must be either two-dimensional, three dimensional or video. All works of a given artist should be in the same medium (e.g., painting) and should have similar size.


TECHNIQUES
The Prize is open to artists of Mexican and American nationality, and those from other countries who have lived in Mexico or the United States for the last two years after residency status. Each museum will exhibit one of two selected artworks by each artist.


THE JURORS
The selection of the artworks will be carried out by Cesáreo Moreno

Visual Arts Director and Chief Curator, National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago and another important expert of Contemporary Art from Mexico
