Parking
Parking is available in various parking garages around campus. The closest parking garage to the VAC is the San Jacinto parking garage, which has an entrance north of the VAC on Trinity Street. Some fees apply. View location information and rate information for the San Jacinto parking garage.
Some street parking is also available on San Jacinto and Trinity streets weekdays after 5:45 pm and on weekends with a UT parking permit. Please check parking signs when using street parking to avoid fines. Parking meters can also be found on Dean Keeton.
Public Transportation
The VAC is accessible via public transportation. Check the Capital Metro website for bus schedules, directions and fare information, or call (512) 474-1200 or (800) 474-1201 for route information.
Biking
Bike racks are located on the northeast corner of San Jacinto and 23rd streets, one block west of the main entrance on Trinity Street.
Accessibility and Special Needs
Please call ahead or inquire with a gallery attendant to make arrangements for any assistance you may require. The Visual Arts Center and its programs are wheelchair accessible.
Walk-In Guided Tours
Join us every Saturday at 2pm for a tour of the Visual Arts Center. With rotating exhibitions in multiple gallery spaces, each week’s tour focuses on a different theme and conversation topic. Meet at the front desk for a guided experience with plenty of time for questions and reflections. Tours last about 45 minutes; no reservations are necessary.

Group Tours
You may schedule a free, staff-led group tour of the VAC’s current exhibitions. During these tours, visitors will engage in conversation about the work on display and the architecture of the building. Please contact Gallery Manager Emily Cayton at emilycayton@utvac.org or (512) 471-1108 to schedule a tour.
Gallery Etiquette
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building, including in the courtyard.
- Food and drinks are not permitted in the galleries.
- Photography is not permitted in the galleries; however, visitors may draw and take notes in the galleries using pencils.
- Strollers are permitted in the galleries.
Directions to the VAC Offices
The VAC administrative suite is located in the southwest corner of the Art Building. The wooden stadium stairs in the West Lobby (across from the auditorium, ART 1.102) lead up to the VAC offices in ART 2.106.
