Operation History

Our briefing on the CIA wouldn’t be complete without a look back at the history of intelligence.

These operations date back to the earliest times and earliest governments, well before the formation of the United States.

Here in America, intelligence played a vital role in the Revolutionary War for independence, and there’s a virtual treasure trove of exciting stories and brave people and events that have shaped our country, often behind the scenes.

On the following pages, you can learn about some of the famous (and a few not-so-famous) people and the roles they played in American intelligence.
