Ms. Lavappa joined the Office of Applied Economics in January 2005 as an Information Technology Specialist. Her expertise is in the area of life-cycle development of multi-tiered decision support software applications. She is involved with the software development initiatives of OAE and has developed software applications utilizing their economic models. Some of the recent software applications Ms. Lavappa has developed include: ToGS a software tool for evaluating and selecting firefighting turnout gear, Life-Cycle Cost Analysis Tool for comparing costs associated with different strategies for protecting facilities from Chem/Bio hazards and DurabilityDoctor a web application that enables homeowners to evaluate durability and compare the cost of materials for certain housing elements. Prior to joining NIST, Ms. Lavappa worked on the development of various business software applications including an asset management system and a bodily injury claims system for the auto insurance industry. |
