NWRC Field Stations

NWRC field station pages describe facilities, ongoing research, and publications associated with the individual stations. Each field station home page also links to Web pages for the official "Research Project" (or Projects) under which research is performed at each NWRC station. The Project pages, in turn, describe goals, objectives and accomplishments of each Project.

In addition to the eight field stations, NWRC research scientists are stationed at Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, PA, and co-located with Wildlife Services Operations in New York.

Dr. Bruce A. Kimball's research focuses on chemically mediated behaviors in wildlife. Analytical chemistry tools are employed to identify chemical constituents in natural systems and bioassays are used to examine animal responses to those chemicals. Research is conducted in the field and the laboratory to better understand wildlife behaviors and develop tools that minimize wildlife damage to agricultural resources. Current research topics include: 1) studying the role of taste aversion in diet selection; 2) developing tools to minimize damage caused by browsing deer; and 3) identifying attractants for wildlife baiting systems.

Dr. Jon T. McCloskey in Brewerton, NY, is concerned primarily with cormorant damage to natural resources in the northeast United States.
