Responsibilities

The Operations organization at BNL is comprised of two directorates, one major project, a support Division, and two staff organizations. There are 550 people in the organization, with an annual budget of $125 million.

The Facilities & Operations Directorate provides design, construction, operations, and maintenance of BNL”s 400 buildings and utility systems, as well as security, fire protection, energy management, and fabrication services to the site. The Environmental Safety & Health Directorate’s work scope includes radiological control, industrial safety & hygiene, environmental services, and waste management. The Environmental Restoration Project manages the remediation work associated with two of BNL’s former reactor facilities, and the Procurement and Property Management Division supports the Lab’s acquisition and property needs.

The Northeast Regional Counterintelligence Office services programs at BNL, and other DOE sites in the northeast. The Quality Management Office provides requirements management, quality assurance program support, and other related management services to the Laboratory.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in New York State
  •  Deputy Director for Operations at BNL since 2003
  •  Member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Facilities Contractors Group (EFCOG)
  •  Member, American Society for Quality
  •  Past Assistant Laboratory Director for Facilities & Operations
  •  Served as Interim Laboratory Deputy Director during transition from AUI to BSA
  •  Past BNL Plant Engineering Division Manager
  •  Joined BNL in 1987 as a Special Assistant to the Associate Director for Management and Physical Plant
  •  Formerly Assistant Manager, DOE Brookhaven Site Office
  •  Previously Chief Engineer at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and consultant on biological safety laboratory design to the United Nations – World Health Organization; projects in Mexico and Panama
  •  Retired Colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserve, 28 years of service, including 23 years with the NY Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing, Westhampton Beach, N.Y.
  •  Currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Little Flower Children and Family Services; past President of the Little Flower Union Free School District
  •  Currently serves as a member of the Shelter Island Community Housing Board working to develop and provide affordable housing to Shelter Island residents
