Our state director has instructed that all our adult ed esl programs must only serve those students who have social security numbers/ visas in other words here legally. We are also supposed to make copies of the documents. Our programs with a few exceptions receive Federal and State monies and are run through the local school districts. I checked the Nifl-ESL list serve remembering the conversation in January. However, these few postings will not be enough ammunition to go up against this ruling. My question is - must we carry through with this ? I always thought it was do not ask and do not tell. Any help you could lend - or if you know of another contact for me to reach - I would greatly appreciate it. Sincerely, Cindy Shermeyer
