This image, taken by NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander's Surface Stereo Imager on
Sol 50, or the 50th day of the mission, July 15, 2008, shows two holes at
the top created by the lander's Robotic Arm's motorized rasp tool. The
holes are about 1 centimeter (0.4 inch) apart.
The Phoenix Mission is led by the University of Arizona, Tucson, on behalf
of NASA. Project management of the mission is led by NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. Spacecraft development is by Lockheed Martin
Space Systems, Denver.
