Human Genome Epidemiology Network (HuGENet™)

In 1998, National Office of Public Health Genomics established the Human Genome Epidemiology Network (HuGENet™) to help translate genetic research findings into opportunities for preventive medicine and public health by advancing the synthesis, interpretation, and dissemination of population-based data on human genetic variation in health and disease.

HuGENet™ is interested in establishing collaborations with individuals and organizations working on population-based research involving genetic information. Learn how to participate in HuGENet™.

What's New in HuGE

Recommendations from the STrengthening  the REporting of  Genetic Association  studies (STREGA) Initiative Released

Recommendations of the STREGA initiative are being published in seven medical journals this month. The initiative builds on the current STROBE Statement (STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology) to help researchers standardize results and make sense of evidence uncovered from human genetic associations studies. (2/23/2009)

Field synopsis on genes and cancer susceptibility published

A new field synopsis on low-penetrance variants in DNA repair genes and cancer susceptibility published online December 30, 2008, in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute Advance Access found that at most three of 1,123 genetic associations examined had “strong” credibility based on the amount of evidence, extent of replication, and protection from bias.
