This is a volunteer position for someone who is interested in helping to build an area of the Wiki devoted to adult ESOL/ESL knowledge from research and professional wisdom. This could be a seasoned ESOL/ESL practitioner, a researcher, or a graduate student. This engaging, often fascinating work, can take as much or as little time as you want to give it, when you have the time available. It will be a great help to practitioners who want to benefit from research and researchers who want to know how practitioners are using their research and what their concerns are which should be addressed by new research. ALE wiki area leaders get a "Weekly Wiki" e-mail update from me, free technical assistance by phone and/or e-mail, the joy of being part of a bright, energetic, upbeat team of "Wikiteers" who meet annually (usually at COABE) and have a great dinner party, and the appreciation of the field for work which helps improve teaching practices and program quality by helping teachers find easy access to good answers to important questions about practice. In some cases the area leaders are also the NIFL list moderator for the area and they make efforts to connect what is happening on the NIFL e-list with with Wiki area. In all cases, the Wiki area leaders capture important discussions from the lists which address practitioner questions and they often link them to professional wisdom and research online resources. The ESOL area, as it is, [ http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/ English_for_Speakers_of_Other_Languages ] is useful, but incomplete. We need someone who wants to make it exemplary. That could be you. If so, e-mail me about your interest. David J. Rosen Adult Literacy education Wiki Organizer djrosen@comcast.net
