Six Area College Students Learned the Ropes of Congress Through Summer Internships with Congressman Platts' Office

Washington, D.C. – Six area college students spent their summer learning about the realities of public service through 12-week internships with Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19). Coordinated by the 19th District Internship Association’s annual program, the six outstanding students were selected based on their academic merits and their community commitment. Each intern spent six weeks in Washington, D.C., and six weeks in one of the district offices in Carlisle, Gettysburg, and York.

Summer 2001 interns were Neal Rice, a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and a senior at Shippensburg University, and son of Jeffrey Rice and Nancy Fidler; Jennifer Brown, a West York High School graduate, a junior at the University of Richmond, and daughter of Bradley and Jane Brown; Tom McKee, a graduate of York Catholic High School, a sophomore at Penn State University, and son of Frank and Jane McKee; Rebecca Rinehart, a Biglerville High School graduate, senior at Ursinus College, and daughter of Merle and Deb Rinehart; Nicole Nucelli, a Gettysburg Area High School graduate, junior at Johns Hopkins University, and daughter of Ralph and Eleanor Nucelli; and Stephen Linebaugh, a Central York High School graduate, senior at Franklin & Marshall College, and son of Michael and Wanda Linebaugh.
