Platts Secures Funding for Local Priorities in 2005 Omnibus Bill

 

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19) has secured funding for several projects in the 19th Congressional District as part of the 2005 omnibus appropriations bill (H.R. 4818), which passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 344-51 Saturday.

"Each of these projects will help strengthen our community and make it a safer, healthier and more compassionate place in which to live," Platts said. H.R. 4818, which funds the nine remaining fiscal 2005 spending bills, includes more than $4.6 million in projects for the 19th Congressional District.


Commerce-Justice-State

. York City Police Department, York, PA
$250,000 for the York City Police Department for equipment to improve information sharing and to purchase in-car digital video technology.
 
Labor-HHS-Education
 
. Center for Land Use, Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania
$170,000 to help enhance land use planning efforts in the region.

. Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center, York, PA
$230,000 for the tobacco education program. 


. Crispus Attucks Youthbuild Charter School, York, PA
$50,000 to fund high-quality day care services for low-income families.
$50,000 for the Youthbuild Charter School to assist low-income youth who have dropped out or have been expelled from school.

Treasury/Transportation
 
. Borough of Mechanicsburg, PA
$750,000 for the Mechanicsburg Signalization Project.

. GeoDecisions, Camp Hill, PA
 $150,000 for Geospatial and Emergency Readiness System (GEARS) technology in Camp Hill.

. York County Transit Authority (Rabbitransit), York, PA
$1.5 million to fund four fixed-route buses, 11 light-duty buses and to replace the bus-washing system.
 
Energy/Water
 
. Codorus Creek Watershed
$722,000 for environmental restoration.

. York Indian Rock Dam
 $50,000 for maintenance improvements.

VA-HUD
 
. York Street Center and Stillmeadow Child Care Center, York, PA
$150,000 for rehabilitation of a community center.

. York City Sewer Authority, York, PA
 $200,000 for wastewater infrastructure improvements.
