Chemical Suppliers and Distributors
As a chemical manufacturer, supplier, or distributor, you may have an interest in ensuring that the chemicals in K-12 schools are responsibly managed and disposed. Take a product stewardship approach, recognizing your responsibility to ensure that the chemicals you supply and sell are used as intended and properly handled throughout their life cycle.
Assist schools and partner in chemical management programs:
Responsibly manage chemicals
- Provide technical assistance to schools on inventorying
chemicals, on site management practices, and responsible
disposal;
- Offer cost-effective waste analysis and handling
solutions for periodic cleanouts;
- Assist schools in establishing best practices
and developing a chemical management plan;
- Offer training and workshops to teachers and
facilities personnel; and
- Promote product stewardship through full service chemical management.
Remove potentially dangerous, unknown, outdated, and unnecessary chemicals
- Provide technical assistance to schools on inventorying
chemicals, on-site management practices, and responsible
disposal; and
- Offer cost-effective waste analysis and handling solutions.
Raise awareness
- Educate others in your field on the issue and encourage action;
and
- Write articles for journals or newsletters that educate readers and inspire them to take action.
An innovative approach to help schools develop a sustainable chemical management system is to provide Chemical and Resource Management Services (CRMS) for the chemicals you supply.
