am organizing a new class for some ESL students
(adult refugees) who need to learn how to read a
tape measure for their jobs in the woodworking
industry. We will be covering fractions
(reducing, adding, subtracting), but I also need
materials with specific, step by step
instructions on how to read a tape measure (to
16ths of an inch). Does anyone have suggestions
of either textbooks with relevant units on this,
or a website with specific lesson plans? I have
searched math teaching website, to no avail so
far. The students' are at a 3rd/4th grade
reading level.

Thanks!
Jennifer
