"Cinderella Man," a new fact-based movie by the award-winning team of
Ron Howard and Russell Crowe, represents a great learning opportunity
for ESL and Adult Ed students. From Depression-era poverty to realistic
boxing scenes (in the 1920s and '30s major bouts were fought outdoors),
the film presents a host of interesting topics for students and teachers
to discuss.

To better understand the historical background and context of the movie,
students can read the story behind the film, virtually "meet" the real
people, and examine National Archive and Library of Congress links to
primary sources about the Great Depression, at NIFL-recommended
