First National Conference on
Dentistry’s Role in Responding to Bioterrorism
and Other Catastrophic Events
March 27–28, 2003
Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Public Health Service and the American Dental Association
cosponsored the conference. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research provided
support. There were more than 500 participants, including private
practitioners, educators, health department directors, and officers and
staff from DHHS, PHS, and the Department of Defense.
Guest speakers included:
- Surgeon General Richard Carmona
- Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases
- Dr. Michael Alfano, Dean, College of Dentistry, New York University
- Dr. Ed Thompson, Deputy Director, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention
