HARMAN STATEMENT ON OBAMA’S ACTION REGULATING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS STANDARDS

South Bay Congresswoman says “our nation’s health and security depend on it”

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice), member of the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Energy and the Environment, today issued the following statement after President Obama announced he will order the EPA to reconsider its denial of waivers to California and other states to set strict greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency standards for motor vehicles.  

Said Harman:  “California has long set the bar on energy efficiency and air emissions.  President Obama’s action recognizes this.  Hopefully Federal climate change legislation expected later this year will follow California’s lead.  Our nation’s health and security depend on it.”
