Congresswoman Moore Encourages Students to Submit Applications Prior to October 21 Deadline

(MILWAUKEE, WI)- Congresswoman Gwen Moore is pleased to announce that she is currently accepting applications from high school students who are seeking a nomination to one of the nation's military academies.  For students who wish to enter the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, an endorsement is required from a nominating authority.  Members of Congress, U.S. Senators, the President, and the Vice President have such authorization.

Residents of Wisconsin's Fourth Congressional District are eligible for a nomination from Congresswoman Moore, and should request a special application form from Khalif Rainey in the Congresswoman's district office.  In a complete application file, students will include a completed application form obtained from the district office, a high school transcript, an SAT or ACT score, and two letters of recommendation.  Students should submit a solid application file that highlights their strengths, talents, and leadership potential as the selection of nominees is highly competitive.

Applications are due by October 21, 2005, and can be mailed to Congresswoman Moore's District Office at 219 N. Milwaukee Street, Suite 3A, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53202-5818, Attention: Khalif Rainey.  A selection committee comprised of area business, community, and education leaders will be conduct interviews with applicants during October and November.  Final nominations will be made in December.
