The Census Bureau is releasing county population estimates produced by members of the Federal-State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE). These estimates are based upon methods and administrative data sets produced by members of the FSCPE as alternatives to Census Bureau produced population estimates. These estimates are the result of joint efforts to continually assess the most accurate and efficient methods and techniques available to produce population estimates, and to develop ground rules for incorporating new methodologies and data sets in our products. Alaska has submitted July 1, 2006 county estimates that were reviewed and met appropriate standards of data quality, documentation, and reproducibility. The methodology used to produce these estimates is posted on the State of Alaska's WEB site. Please direct any questions to the FSCPE member of that state, listed under The Federal State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates Contact List at: http://www.census.gov/population/www/coop/contacts.html
