Hurricane Fausto started on August 21, 2002, and grew to Cateogry 4 Hurricane status in only three days. It's westward track kept the West Coast out of danger.
Hurricane Fausto weakened as it moved westward in the eastern Pacific Ocean, and by the time this image was acquired on August 25, 2002, it had dropped from Category 4 to Category 2 hurricane status. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite.
