CARDOZA ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACADEMY APPOINTMENTS

Six Students Nominated by Cardoza are Offered Appointments to U.S Military Academies

WASHINGTON – Congressman Dennis Cardoza, D-Merced, today announced the appointment of six students from the 18th Congressional district to the U.S. Service Academies: Nathan Bennett, Peter Choe, Michael Head, Michael LaRocque, Elizabeth Patterson, and Melissa Prater. 

 

“I want to extend my congratulations to Elizabeth, Melissa, Michael Head, Michael LaRocque, Peter and Nathan.” Cardoza said.  “They should all be very proud of this achievement. I know they will serve our country with distinction.”

 

A local Academy Selection Committee interviewed each applicant earlier this year and made recommendations to Cardoza.  The selection of nominees was based on a composite of academic factors, including junior class rank and SAT scores, along with leadership potential. The congressman’s nominations were then forwarded to the academies, which made final decisions.

U.S. Naval Academy & U.S. Air Force Academy
