CARDOZA ANNOUNCES 2007 SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS

 Fourteen Students from the 18th District are Nominated

WASHINGTON – Congressman Dennis Cardoza (D-Merced) today announced the selection of fourteen students from the 18th Congressional District for nomination to the class of 2011 at U.S Military Academy– West Point, the Naval AcademyAnnapolis, and the Air Force AcademyColorado Springs and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – Kings Point, NY.

 

“I am very pleased to nominate this distinguished group on behalf of the 18th District,” said Cardoza. “These fine young people and their families should be very proud. Each is an exceptional nominee with the potential to win an appointment.”

 

Those nominated by Cardoza are:

Tim Berry – Dos Palos High School - U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy

Ryan Brunn – Central Catholic High School, Modesto - U.S. Military Academy

Anthony Demma Atwater High School - U.S. Naval Academy

Each year, Congressman Cardoza has the privilege of nominating talented young men and women from California’s 18th congressional district to the nation’s service academies. Cardoza’s Academy Selection Committee interviewed each applicant and made its recommendations to Cardoza last week. The selection of nominees is based on a composite of academic factors, including junior class rank and SAT scores, along with leadership potential.
